Choose a name
We did some quick domain research and found that bridging-finance.co.za was still available; good news for us as it’s descriptive of exactly the key phrase we’re targeting.
Register the domain
We’ve set up tank with domain configuration and aliasing functionality, so, after we’ve registered the domain we simply point it to the tank server, and once the dns updates (usually a couple of hours), that domain is technically live and points to us.
Set up the site
In my experience there are two ways sites like this normally get built: you either have all the content up-front and take it from there, or, you have an idea for a site, and the rest follows. Again, tank allows for both these scenarios to play out. In this case, we’ve only created a splash page with some content; a short and concise company profile with relevant contact information.
Someone call Google!
An important aspect to remember is that a site cannot live in isolation. Google will never know about a site if someone doesn’t link to it. For the sake of simplicity all we are doing from a SEO aspect is linking from this blog. There are a myriad of ways to submit sites to search engines, and most of them fall outside the scope of this discussion.
This article will continue once Google (hopefully) indexes our new site. I’ll cover choosing a design and implementing a skin, how to add a news section and a sitemap, and we how roll with Google.
please send me the other 'parts' of this article as soon as its available....very interesting and crucial reading, thanks.
I couldn't agree more... but not one response since APRIL!!???
