New functionality: ‘add something’

With the release of Tank4.0 we wanted to address a couple of those small things that have been bugging us for ages. One of these aspects was the way one added things to a site.

Add something, anything…

In the previous versions of Tank we had a ‘Add a section’ action to add sections to a site, and one had to browse to a post, page or photo section to eventually add posts, pages or photos data. The logic was split into structuring a site and then managing a site. There wasn’t much wrong with this approach but we thought we could make it easier and a bit more fun.

We now have a combined ‘Add something’ function which enables you to add any type of content to almost anywhere on your site with one click - all you need to do is to consider what to call your new content, and then decide where you want to add it.

New content can now be added either directly to existing content (adding a post to your blog), or you can choose to create new structure (adding a blog to your site) - all from one screen with one action.

We’ve kept the ‘old way’ of doing things when you are editing a page, post or album: you can easily add another page, post or album from the context you are working in.

Tap into these new work-flows to quickly build up a site’s structure, easily setup a blog, or use it in conjunction with zip-file uploads to publish a portfolio without the hassle it used to be.

  1. Pleasure to use, good addition :)
