Some time ago we talked about the people the internet forgot about. It appears there are others out there too.

New feature: public and private sites
July 9th, 2008
The recent introduction of the activity tagcloud led to an unforeseen eventuality: any site you create and work on will automatically be linked from our site whether that was your intention or not.
Building a site is a process

There are those that promise things like a ‘quick website’ or a ‘a site in a matter of minutes’. Don’t believe the hype.
Usability rework: the skin settings screen
December 4th, 2007
Most of the time you spend with our app you will be managing content: your pages, posts, photos and products. But there will come a time when you wander over to the skin tab and happen upon your site’s skin settings.
New feature: global, utility and hidden navigation
November 16th, 2007
We’ve made a couple of changes to what we regard as one of the most important areas of the app: the sitemap. This dashboard gives the user an overview of how her site is structured and gives quick access to any content area that might be in need of an update.
Introducing ‘micro joint-ventures with designers’
November 6th, 2007
So many business models emerging on the internet each day, all geared towards getting designers involved. We’ve decided the time has come to tell you more about an important aspect of our own business model: micro joint-ventures with designers. Sounds good huh? We like to think that not only does it sound good, it’s going to work well.
A different design tool
July 6th, 2007
We just finished the production of a series of sites for local design studio and gallery Whatiftheworld. From the onset the brief was to create something analog, no animation, no flash: just a simple, straightforward site that takes the back seat to the work of artists and designers it promotes.
The people the internet forgot about

One of the questions I’ve been meaning to clarify is who this application is aimed at. Two broad user groups will benefit from using this app: the first group are those who use the Internet every day as a production tool; web designers, information architects, copywriters, even the odd programmer or two. You guys I’ll cover later.
Design your blog like a video game
January 15th, 2007
During the end-stage of developing e-vent I made a slight but significant change to the layout of all the permalinks: instead of using the top-most <h1> to render the title of the site I chose to render the title of the post instead. I just did the same on this journal: the header title of a permalink used to read exactly the same as the journal. This design was never intended, it was one of those little things that emerged as soon as I had the chance to play with the actual data: we’ve written quite a couple of posts before I realised there was room for improvement.
Remix. Then roll with it.

When’s the last time you’ve been to a club? The kind that plays loud electronic music till the early hours of the morning? If you have, no doubt you’d notice the dj - the guy in control of the music for the night, the guy who gets all the pretty girls dancing. Depending on your exposure to these types of establishments, you might be under the impression that he produces all the music he plays. In fact, 99% of the time, the dj is not the producer of any of the music he plays.
A light-weight approach to heavy lifting
November 23rd, 2006
One of the aspects I enjoy least about conventional website development is the heavy reliance on other people. I’m normally caught in the middle of things; client needing something done (urgently, as usual), but the designer is too busy with other stuff and the programmer on another project already. Time gets wasted.
