We’ve just changed the name of the app (formerly known as Dynamo) to ‘Tank’, and it resides at withtank.com, as you might’ve noticed. We’ve also made a ton of updates to the app itself, we’ll be posting about those in detail alongside a rationale as to the in-flight name change, next. The best news of all? We’ve managed to get round to it and build and write our own site at last. We hope you like it.

This will change the way you do business
May 31st, 2007
How many times have you heard the line: this will change the way you do business? I’ve heard it many times, and some of those times, I’ve been the one promising it. It’s quite common in the web development arena, and it’s a reason there is so much bloat in so many sites. You see, adding a feature to a site makes us look good. And, in turn, it could make you, as the client, look good. At least, that’s what we tell you.
Running it past a couple of designers; part 1
February 6th, 2007
We’ve been letting a couple of designers in to poke around our framework. No training, no manual, just a bit of direction via gtalk. It’s part of a general push to get designers more involved in this project, both from they way they work, to the way we operate. Pioneerunit was constructed during the chat.
The perfect web publishing tool for estate agents
January 21st, 2007
I sold my flat a couple of years ago through a mutual friend, and have recently connected with him again as I wanted him to see what Tank could do for him and his real estate business. Locally, many estate agents are caught in that trap of only publishing their listings, and not going any further than that.

Focussing on the real deal
November 16th, 2006
One of the first sites we built using tank is AasvoĆ«lkrans. It is a bed and breakfast in Montagu run by Alan’s mom. It is quite a simple site, so we built it in record time.
A chicken & egg scenario
July 19th, 2006
By now you should get the general gist around here; tank is an app for building sites. In fact, this very site you’re viewing at the moment was built on Tank. We’ve been holding back a bit in order to allow development to reach a stage where it could allow us to build this site, which in turn is about this app. That way we get to test certain core functionality, and slowly extend bits and pieces till at least core needs are met. What you see at this moment are 2 aspects of the app at play: pages and posts. These 2 aspects kind of work at the moment, point is they work enough in order to enable us to build this site. We’re planning to eventually deploy another 2 aspects: products and pods.
Ab initio…
July 7th, 2006
‘Ab initio‘ means ‘From the beginning‘ in latin. I thought that would be a good 1st post in this journal, as (a) we normally use latin text to test text-entries and (b) it makes sense, in an odd way. The thing is, we’re in the midst of this project, and some of the posts will probably go back in time to cover the initial development - if we ever get round to that - the rest of the posts will play catch-up and document what we’re trying to do here. The date on this post puts that stake in the ground…
